Patrick M. Grode was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, in 1981. His family moved several times before settling in Rapid City, where he graduated from St. Thomas More High School in 2000. In 2004, Patrick earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communication Studies from South Dakota State University. He then went on to attend Ave Maria School of Law in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and graduated summa cum laude in May of 2007. He was admitted to the South Dakota Bar and joined May, Adam, Gerdes & Thompson in September of 2007.

While in law school, Patrick served as a Senior Editor of the Ave Maria Law Review, was active in the Ann Arbor Civic Theatre and continues his interest in the local Pierre Players group today.

Patrick is a member of the State Bar of South Dakota and is admitted to practice before the courts of the State of South Dakota, the US Federal Court District of South Dakota, and Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. He currently pursues a general area of practice.
